Many instruments from around the WWII through early Jet age were interchangeable between a variety of Aircraft. If used, most of these instruments were removed from aircraft many years ago and do not have specific aircraft information tags attached. Only a few instruments, such as some Fuel Quantity or some Position indicators, were designed for a specific aircraft. Therefore, in most cases, we cannot tell you exactly which aircraft they were actually removed from.

** The
Mach Gauge told the pilot how close to the speed of sound he was flying.
This was very important during combat, especially for the fighter pilots, because, as the
aircraft came nearer to the speed of sound, the more difficult the
aircraft became to control. Making this little Mach Number Window a
very important detail!
Since the speed of sound is totally
dependent upon local air density, the actual speed varies with altitude,
temperature, humidity, and so it is impossible to pin an exact speed on the
airspeed indicator for the pilot. This is why the Mach number was designed.
